Scope

This is the first handbook in a series entitled: Electronic Enclosures, Housings and Packages. Findings of this book can be generalized to many new product development efforts while at the same time firmly embedded in the electronic enclosures context. This first handbook focuses on the often forgotten but extremely important subject of product development contextualization.

Part 1 Ubiquitous Products

Ubiquitous Products serve as an orientation for the novice and provides a review for those with substantial experience in the industry. This first part offers an insight into the secretive world of new product development and introductions by providing a map of the process and a few additional helpful hints for the practitioner.

Part 2 Societal and Environmental Framework

Engineering today is so specialized that many practicing engineers do not realize the full extent and all the ramifications that the societal framework imposes on their everyday activities. These elements were included to emphasize all the societal building blocks of enclosure engineering.
